Ingredients:
Cookies
3 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
2 cups packed brown sugar
1 cup vegetable shortening
1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon maple flavoring
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 (12-ounce) package white chocolate chips
1/2 cup chopped pecans
pecan halves for garnishing

Maple Frosting
4 cups powdered sugar
4 tablespoons or more milk
1/4 cup butter or margarine, softened
1 teaspoon maple flavoring

Procedures:
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). In a medium bowl, combine flour and baking soda; set aside.

In a large mixing bowl, beat brown sugar, vegetable shortening, butter, eggs, maple flavoring and vanilla extract until creamy. Gradually beat in flour mixture. Fold in white chocolate chips and chopped pecans. Drop by rounded tablespoon onto ungreased baking sheets.

Bake for 9 to 12 minutes or until light golden brown. Cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes; transfer to wire racks to cool completely.

Meanwhile, prepare the maple frosting. Combine powdered sugar, milk, butter and maple flavoring in a medium bowl; stir until smooth. Spread mixture on top of each cooled cookie and garnish with pecan half.
