3/4 cup butter
3/4 cup chocolate chips
2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 large eggs
3/4 cup chopped walnuts
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
Grease a 9x9-inch square baking pan with butter.
In a double boiler over low heat, melt butter and chocolate chips together. Remove from heat to cool.
In a separate bowl, combine dry ingredients.
When the chocolate/butter mixture has cooled, whisk in the eggs and vanilla. Make sure that the chocolate/butter mixture has cooled to avoid scalding the eggs.
Add the dry ingredients into the chocolate mixture and whisk to combine. Add in the chopped walnuts. Pour batter into prepared baking pan.
Bake for 40 to 45 minutes or until a cake tester inserted into center comes out clean. Cool the brownies before cutting into bars. Makes 12 brownies.
